Been a while..

I completely screwed this up! I originally created this blog to keep a journal while my husband was deployed.. I stopped writing in it before he deployed and honestly it's been almost a year since I've written in this.. I'm pretty upset with myself. I should've committed myself to this.. but I chose not to.

On the bright side! My husband will be leaving for a year in May and I WILL journal in here while he is gone.. I want this to be something I can go back and read in the future..

For now I will try to update the most recent events.. My husband got me breast implants ((I have wanted them for a few years now)) and I have never had this much confidence in my life! I finally feel cute in clothes and tops finally fit me the way they should.. It's amazing! No more padded bras for me haha! What else? My 26th birthday is tomorrow.. how strange - four years from 30.. Time really does fly by - makes you wonder what will happen in the future!

Mikky is three years old now! She is such a little beauty.. we get compliments on her all the time - she definitely looks like her daddy! I dreamed she would look like him and I'm so happy she does.. she has such beautiful features - she is such a girly girl too! I love it! She loves makeup and she loves having her nails painted.. She loves dolls and clothes! She loves having her hair done too lol. She is such a little lady.. super polite and such a little talker! She makes friends wherever she goes.. I am so blessed with my family. ^_^

Have a lovely day everyone!

Mikky was weighed at the hospital yesterday, February 24th 2012 and she weighs 25 lbs and 4 oz.! I can't believe she's such a big girl now..

Ear infection..

So Mikky got her first ear infection.. I feel so bad for her. I am lucky that she didn't get her first one until she was two and a half years old ((it's true what they say about breastfeeding! It really does help prevent ear infections!)) - I recognized the signs from what other mothers have told me.. Fussiness ((I'm an adult and even I'd tear up because of an ear infection)), sleepiness, and messing with the bothered ear.. I feel so bad for her.. But we got her some antibiotics and ear drops. The infection was so bad that her ear drum ruptured! That scared me because I assumed that meant she would lose some or most of her hearing. Apparently someone has been feeding me the wrong information lol! It's just like any wound - it will heal and have little, if any, scarring. I can deal with that! But then my next questions was "oh my gosh does that mean she has had it for longer than I thought!?" And the pediatrician ((Dr. Christie)) said "no! Not at all! Don't feel bad - it just means that the pressure was so full in her ear that the pressure kind of 'burst' so to speak." That made me feel better. It started the night before last - Mikky woke up in the middle of the night screaming and crying! And I knew something was wrong because she never wakes up in the middle of the night unless something is really bothering her.. so I went and had her come to my bed to cuddle for a little while.. then yesterday after her nap - she woke up screaming again and that's when I saw her touching and rubbing her ear.. So I got her an appointment for 7:15 am and now we have everything we need to get her all cleared up!

Aww this commercial absolutely gets me every time I see it! I had to share it with everybody..

Is there anything you would recommend for help the pain with an ear infection? I have been alternating between Motrin and Tylenol and that has been working great! I only give one to her a day following the directions carefully, of course. My friend recommended a concoction of Apple Cider vinegar and Olive Oil and putting it in her ear but to be honest, it freaks me out a little bit! Sorry, Rebecca! Haha! Anyway Happy Friday, everyone!

Be blessed,

One week left

Beautiful weather in Delaware.
Until March. I am amazed at how the weather has been, lately. I think it's only snowed twice this year? Lovely! I think it's clear from my last statement that I am not a huge fan of snow.. actually I hate it.. haha. Here is a little preview from my backyard.. it's a cell phone picture - so please excuse the poor quality!

I am seriously considering quitting my job. Although I enjoy the people I work with - my husband is deploying soon and I'd rather be at home with my daughter than having her at a babysitters so frequently. I am not saying it's bad to have a babysitter but since she is only two - I would like her to have me around while my husband is gone for 6-7 months. She is going to be so confused and upset to not have her daddy around that the only person to be around ((me)) will be at work.. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am at a loss. Unless my job can work with me and give me a smaller workload but I have a feeling they will say no.

Colin is in Colorado for two weeks visiting his family and friends. I said yes because he is deploying soon and although I am not very comfortable about it ((non-stop partying)) I guess he deserves to party a little before he leaves.

So Titanic 3D is coming out to theaters for a limited time! I am pretty excited.. considering I was 10 years old when it came to theaters the first time! I am assuming it's for the 15th year anniversary! I have loved the movie since the first time I saw it!

Mikky is in the process of potty training and she seems to be doing really well! She was nervous of the potty at first ((I bought the one that sits on top of the larger toilet)) and she cried a little but after a minute or two she adjusted and thought it was kind of fun lol. She's speaking so well now and talks so much! She tends to point to stuff ((for me)) and for everybody else she will talk and say whatever she needs or wants. She is a parrot and constantly mimicking everything people say. She is obsessed with baby dolls and loves feeding them and giving them drinks. She will push them around in a stroller and my favorite thing she does is hold them to her chest, pat their backs, kiss their foreheads, and say "shh.. shh.." she is such a cute little mommy.. Her favorite dolls are the plush ones with the plastic heads - she has Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Ariel. So cute! I bought her Snow White for her second birthday and my mom bought her the other three for Christmas!

Anyway I think that about sums up my day. I am so thrilled that is' so beautiful outside and my house is nice and clean!

P.S. I have to have these tights:

Adorable argyle tights!

Random facts about me

I received a pay raise today! Pretty exciting.. I work at a bank so the pay was nice to begin with but the pay raises are always welcome! I've decided to write a little entry about myself considering I don't know anybody on here and it's impossible for people to get to know me if I don't write anything about myself.

-My name is Kayla ((obviously..)).
-I'm 25 years old and I'm a Capricorn.
-I am married to a man in the military ((Air Force)) and I grew up in the military lifestyle. My entire family ((including in-laws)) are in the military ((also Air Force)). My dad retired as a Chief ((E9)) after serving 30 years. He loved it and misses it tremendously. It's a hectic lifestyle but I couldn't imagine my life any other way!
-I met my husband in high school and we were best friends!
-I work at a bank.
-I have an obsession/addiction to Gone With the Wind ((hence my blog title))! If it were up to me my name would have been Katie Scarlett O'Hara!
-I am a photographer.
-I hate math.. but I work at a bank? Ironic, isn't it?
-I have a very girly style but I love rock music ((even a little metal, at times)).
-I have extremely dry humor and even the lamest joke will get me laughing until I cry!
-I am proud to admit - if you screw me over - I have no problem forgetting you. I am not the type who will crawl back begging your forgiveness if you're the one who did me wrong.
-On the other hand, I am extremely forgiving and always have room in my heart for an old friend.
-I will admit when I am wrong even though it hurts my pride.
-I am a major history buff and can talk about history all day if I can find somebody who is just as interested ((although not many people are)).
-Medieval/Renaissance history is my favorite.. Tudor history, in particular. No, not because of The Tudors.. I just had a really great history teacher in sixth grade named Mrs. Frein. Because of her - my fascination with Tudor history blossomed and I will research it whenever I want to learn more.
-I think Facebook is stupid and I hate it with a passion. However, I have an unhealthy addiction to it. Ugh who doesn't though?
-I am completely addicted to Diet Coke.
-I have a huge heart and enjoy shopping for other people.
-I have an identical twin sister. We grew up fighting and arguing EVERY day of our lives until she moved out and got married. Now distance can't separate us and we are closer than ever.
-I grew up in Europe - particularly Germany. It is my home although I am not German.
-I have a younger brother who will be graduating high school this year with honors. I also have a younger sister who is turning 15 ((huge age gap, I know haha)) who is possibly the prettiest person I know with a 4.7 GPA. Beauty and brains is no myth!
-I have a long-haired Chihuahua named Jack Daniels haha he is a momma's boy! His birthday is October 25th and my daughter's is October 27th haha.
-I have a fun-loving personality and can not go a day being serious. I am constantly laughing and when I'm not laughing - I'm thinking of something stupid, I'm sure.
-I am 4'11".. and three quarters tall.
-98 pounds.
-Because I am a twin we tend to be smaller when we are born and I was only 4 pounds and 4 ounces at birth!
-My mom is from England and has sea green eyes. She is the prettiest person on earth and I swear my daughter looks just like her.. except Mikky ((my daughter)) has light brown eyes.
-Speaking of light brown eyes - nobody in my family or my husband's family has brown eyes. My side of the family has a shade of green eyes ((my dad has hunter green eyes, my brother has dark green eyes, my twin sister has bright green eyes, my little sister has bluish green eyes, my mom has sea green eyes, and I have light green/gray eyes.. my husband has hazel/green eyes, my mother-in-law has bright green eyes, my brother-in-law has very blue eyes and my father-in-law has bright blue eyes)). I think it's so beautiful.. just shows she's unique and my one of a kind baby girl. She was born with blue eyes which progressed to green and are now brown. My little chameleon hehe. Did you know <1% of the world has green eyes??

I guess that is about it from me! If you have any questions or suggestions please don't hesitate to comment!

Valentine's Day

It's a shame they don't make cards the way they used to.. vintage Valentine's Day cards were so cute way back when! Any plans for Valentine's Day for anyone else? It's Mikky's ((my daughter)) third Valentine's Day.. She was only four months old for her first one and last year I let her choose her Valentine's gifts.. She chose two cute boxes of chocolate and I picked her up a cute Hello Kitty doll and a card, of course.

I wanted to post two photos from Mikky's previous Valentine's Days - they are so sweet.. the one with the box of chocolates is from 2011 and the one in her "bouncy" seat is from 2010. She has changed so much in the past 2.5 years.. she will always be my little Ladybird though. Colin bought me a tub of strawberry ice cream ((I think he's trying to jeopardize my diet/exercise plan! Just kidding hehe))!

How is everyone else's Valentine's Day going? ((or "Single Awareness Day" as some like to call it!))

Is there anything special you would like to see me post on my blog? Feedback is encouraged and I will gladly take positive feedback.. Negative feedback is welcome too, as long as I am not criticized.

It may seem cheesy..

but I've been inspired by a loving family who lost their daughter. She was born at 27 weeks gestation due to pre-eclampsia and IUGR ((intrauterine growth restriction - meaning the baby's growth was restricted someway.. maybe the placenta wasn't giving enough nutrients to the baby, or there wasn't enough amniotic fluid, or any number of things.. the family still isn't sure and will never get to find out you can read their story here Kayleigh's Story)). Anyway their story inspired me to chronicle things in my life. Not for me - although I enjoy writing, I wouldn't say I'm the type who "has a way with words". I've always been a bookworm but just because I love to read does not mean I am a fantastic writer. In fact - I have so many things I want to say at once that I write "all over the place", but we'll just call it "freewriting". But that's beside the point - this blog isn't for me. It's for my daughter. She knows me better than anyone else will ever know me but it's more than that - I want her to be able to see things through my eyes when she's older. Those wonderful days and the bumps in the road that slowly slip from our memory will be archived on here and she'll look back and say "oh my gosh.. I remember that day - I completely forgot about it!". I won't promise to write everyday - in fact, there maybe be times when this page is quiet for weeks.. but I promise to write at least once a month. I will be honest and I will write from my heart.

In a few short words:

This is my story. :]
